An urban explorer discovered an incredible supercar collection, including a Lotus Esprit, left in a millionaire’s abandoned mansion.

The mansion, tucked away in a small American town, had been empty since the early 2000s when the owner passed away.

The property appeared to have been largely untouched since and was still full of his belongings.

It was also packed with an impressive collection of luxury cars, including several Porsches and even a Lotus Esprit Turbo.

The millionaire’s abandoned mansion had an incredible car collection

Although it’s rare to stumble across an abandoned car collection, it does happen.

Earlier this year, a US YouTuber exploring an abandoned mansion discovered three classic cars worth thousands gathering dust, while this guy in Oklahoma found 11 cars and two abandoned airplanes at a house that once belonged to a pilot.

Elsewhere in the US, YouTuber Exploring with Josh headed out to this abandoned mansion that was built back in 1907.

The property has 10 bedrooms, a swimming pool, and is also home to an incredible supercar collection.

As he walked around the grounds of the abandoned property, Josh found a Porsche 911 and headed through into a detached garage where he spotted a Lotus Esprit parked up next to an Alfa Romeo.

He also pointed out a couple of Volvos, a Nissan Stanza, and a Honda CB750.

Josh said that alongside the cars, the previous owner had left behind stacks of valuables including designer clothes, antiques, and watches.

It’s unclear what will happen to the mansion, or the supercar collection, but it’s sad to see the property and the vehicles fall into such a state of disrepair.

Here’s hoping that one day, someone can step in and give them – and the once-stunning mansion – some TLC.

The Lotus Esprit is an absolutely iconic car

It’s sad to see any car left behind to rot, but there’s something particularly heartbreaking when the car in question is an icon like the Lotus Esprit.

Launched in 1976, the Lotus Esprit had an eye-catching wedge-shaped ‘folded paper’ design.

It became a piece of cinema history the following year, when a S1 Lotus Esprit appeared in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me

A few years on, a couple of Turbo Esprits were used in the 1981 Bond film For Your Eyes Only

The nameplate had an impressive run for Lotus, with production ending in 2004.

Over the course of its decades-long run, just 10,675 were produced, and it’s a real shame to see one of those left behind and forgotten in a late millionaire’s abandoned mansion.
