This elderly American couple was selling their classic Mustang in order to save their home, so a team of kind-hearted detailers decided to restore it to its former glory for a fond farewell.
Robin and Cynthia Schurdell had been struggling for years, with Robin suffering from stage four lung cancer and the two living in care facilities because their home didn’t have reliable heating.
The plan was to sell off their Fox-body Mustang so that they could fund a furnace fix and move back home.
Fortunately, WD Detailing was on hand to help them out with their trusty car.

How WD Detailing helped this couple out with their classic Mustang
The car in question was a 1983 Mustang with a 5L V8.
In its heyday, it would have been a fine car, but in its current state, it was far from it.
It’d be a tall order, but it’s not like the WD Detailing team hasn’t taken on a wide array of cars in their time – from Ferraris, to Chevy Corvettes, to Dodge Vipers.

Rodents had inflicted their fair share of damage, and that’s not forgetting the state of the interior.
A moldy interior, combined with rusty seats and mouse nests, made for a seriously tall restoration order.
But with a couple’s living situation in the balance, the job needed to get done.

They set about polishing up the paint and cleaning up the seats, which were extra tricky to remove now that they’d rusted to the floor.
On the exterior, the paint was attended to, while the wheels were cleaned of dirt and grime.
After all their work was done, it was time to show the car to the couple.
What sort of reaction did this couple have to their new-and-improved car?
When it came time to see their cleaned-up car, the Schurdells were delighted with what they saw.
The dark red color was popping like nothing else.
After around 30 years of sitting in the garage, it was long overdue for its comeback.

“Oh gosh, that’s pretty!” Mrs. Schurdell exclaimed.
“It’s much better!”
For RJ, the host of WD Detailing, this was a personal mission as his father had recently passed away.
“His biggest wish was to be in his own home,” RJ said.
“In his memory, I [wanted to] help someone else come home.”

In addition to helping the couple sell the car, RJ gave the couple $3,000 and offered them the free labor of a friend who was well acquainted with HVACs.
The couple also has a GoFundMe, where people can donate to help them return home.
This isn’t the first time the team at WD Detailing has helped out a car owner in need.
