The 1940s Willys Jeep is one of the most iconic vehicles ever built.
It helped power the Allies to victory in World War II.
Despite its age, the Jeep remains a hell of a lot of fun.
And one YouTube channel decided to take the fun to the freeway.

The origin story of the Willys Jeep is one of the most fascinating of any car.
Back in 1940, World War II was in full swing – with America still on the sidelines.
America would not officially enter the war until the next year, following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
However, America had been supplying equipment, weaponry and supplies to Great Britain since September 1940.
By 1940, the U.S. Army had also realised that they would need a small, reliable and agile 4×4.

This 4×4 would need to be capable of serving on the battlegrounds of Europe (and later, the Pacific).
To that end, Bantam, Willys and Ford all answered the open call to create.
Whilst Bantam technically created the iconic truck, Willys and Ford soon took over production.
This was due to concerns about Bantam’s lack of ability to mass-produce for the war effort.
General George Marshall, Chief of Staff of the US Army during the war, claimed the Willys Jeep was, ‘America’s greatest contribution to modern warfare.’
Despite now being over 80 years old, the iconic car still provides a lot of off-road fun.
Because over 600,000 were produced during the war, it can still be somewhat easily found.
And it can still be found relatively cheaply, too – and that means fun on a budget.
Jerry and Jobe run the very fun YouTube channel, BigTime.
Recently, the pair bought their Willys Jeep at an auction for an absolute steal.
Their video actually focuses mostly on what to do with the Jeep once they’ve bought it.
After inspecting it and making sure everything is good, the pair hit the freeway.
They decide to hit the freeway in their new Jeep, but quickly realise it isn’t quite cut out for it.
Instead, Jerry and Jobe determine that the Jeep is perfect for errand running and off-roading.
It even makes a perfect for beach combing if that takes your fancy.
This Jeep is an extremely cool car, and hopefully it features in many more videos.
