It turns out you can use your Apple iPhone’s front & back cameras at the same time, but most people don’t know about it.
The iPhone has undergone significant evolution over the years, becoming a staple Apple product that continues to sell in vast numbers every year.
Yet despite how well established it is, there are still some features that slip through the net, such as the ability to use both the front and rear cameras at the same time.
Thankfully, for those interested in doing that, it’s quite easy to use the two in a new feature called Dual Capture.

Which iPhones can use the two cameras simultaneously?
According to iPhone Life, Apple iPhone 17s and newer can use this new feature.
It’s accessed via the regular built-in camera app, and it’s a feature called Dual Capture.
This allows you to record picture-in-picture video without the need for an app from the App Store.
So if you want to capture your reaction to a heartfelt moment, now you can!
Gaining access to the new feature is easy.

First, open the camera app on your iPhone and select video mode.
Then you tap the six-dot icon in the top right, before selecting dual capture.
Pressing that enables the feature for your iPhone’s front & back cameras

What the Dual Capture feature allows your iPhone’s front & back cameras to do
After pressing that, you’ll see a smaller square showing what the front camera sees.
The rest of the screen will still show what the rear camera is looking at.
You also have the ability to drag the front camera box to any corner of the screen while you record.
Then you can just hit record as normal and capture the footage you want.
So you can capture your reaction to a family pet, or perhaps one of your kids playing sports at school.
It is a simple addition to the iPhone’s functionality.
But it’s a fun little feature, and one we think will prove to be incredibly popular.
It shows that you don’t necessarily need big, flashy additions to a phone to really get people excited.
