Five months after the death of famed fashion designer Virgil Abloh, the visionary’s final collaboration with Mercedes-Maybach has been revealed in the form of a limited-run model.

Dubbed the ‘Maybach by Virgil Abloh’, this uniquely curated version of the 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 features a truly unique two-tone colour scheme that blends a sandy hue with black accents both inside and out.

Restricted to just 150 units globally, this unique car features Abloh’s logo inscribed on its centre console, headrests, rear cushions and doorsill panels to remind occupants of the Off-White founder’s influence on this particularly special Maybach.

There’s no need for any extra badging outside, however, as the sandy colour it’s finished in directly mirrors that of the Project Maybach electric concept car Abloh also designed in conjunction with Mercedes.

All 150 customers who do purchase this limited Maybach will receive a special wooden box that’s also sand-coloured and bears Abloh’s logo. It contains a 1:18 scale replica of the car, along with two car keys and a carabiner hook.

A special car cover also comes with each example of the Maybach bearing Abloh’s logo as well.

Off-White launches collaboration pieces with Mercedes-Maybach

Coinciding with the reveal of this automotive crossover is an accompanying fashion collab – naturally – with Off-White launching a range of sand-coloured T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, baseball caps and racing gloves, which all bear the Maybach name and logo.

The suede driving gloves are a particular standout, sporting blue velcro straps bearing Abloh’s name.

The Maybach by Virgil Abloh marks the late designer’s third collaboration with Mercedes, following the Project Geländewagen and Project Maybach concept vehicles.

Abloh, who died of cancer in November 2021 aged 41, held positions as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton and chief executive of Off-White.

US deliveries of the Maybach by Virgil Abloh are set to commence in late 2022, with pricing only available upon application.

The accompanying apparel line became available April 5, but sold out almost instantly.
