Buying a cheap Bugatti online sounds like a huge gamble, but YouTuber Carter Sharer was determined to introduce the public to the world of Alibaba cars.

Turning a deaf ear to conventional wisdom, the Virginia content creator wired $30,000 to a seller in China for what was advertised as a Bugatti Veyron body.

Considering real Bugattis can sell for millions of dollars, the price alone raised eyebrows.

Still, after four long months of waiting, a massive crate finally arrived at his house.

The car showed a lot of potential at first

Sharer documented the entire unboxing process in a video uploaded in August 2025.

When he first saw the crate, he could barely contain his excitement.

The giant wooden crate sat in his garage like a mystery box promising one of the world’s most legendary hypercars.

After all, Bugattis often command eye-watering prices, with one-off models costing over $20 million.

Even damaged examples have sold for more than a million dollars.

Naturally, the idea of getting one for just $30,000 felt almost too good to be true.

But that didn’t stop Sharer from grabbing tools and starting the unboxing process.

The crate itself was massive and packed with layers of protective wrapping.

With no real instructions on how to open it, Sharer and his team slowly dismantled the wooden panels piece by piece.

The process took longer than expected, as the crate seemed to be held together with dozens of nails and heavy planks.

Eventually, after a lot of cutting, prying, and careful lifting, they finally revealed what appeared to be a bright red Bugatti sitting inside.

For a moment, it genuinely looked like the unbelievable purchase might have worked out.

But the closer they looked, the stranger things became.

The front grille didn’t resemble Bugatti’s iconic horseshoe design at all.

Instead, it looked like a generic sticker slapped onto the front of the car.

Other details started raising even more questions, from oddly shaped panels to parts that didn’t seem functional.

This cheap Bugatti isn’t that cheap after all

Then came the biggest discovery of all.

When they inspected the wheels and underside of the vehicle, Sharer realized something was very wrong.

The ‘tires’ looked like plastic props, and the entire structure appeared unusually light.

A quick lift confirmed the truth.

The whole thing was made almost entirely out of foam.

Instead of a working supercar or even a real vehicle shell, Sharer had received what was essentially a foam replica shaped like a Bugatti Veyron body.

Looking back at the listing explained the confusion.

The product description mentioned a ‘Bugatti Veyron body frame with protective wrap’, which turned out to be exactly what he got.

Even though the gamble didn’t pay off the way he expected, Sharer still saw the funny side of it.

According to the YouTuber, he said he would try to turn the bizarre purchase into something creative.
