This Washington-based Tesla Cybertruck owner broke down the ownership costs between the Tesla and a Ford F-150 Raptor.

American YouTuber Devon Loerop has owned his Cybertruck for a while now and knows many will want to know how much it costs compared to ICE trucks.

A YouTube video he posted back in January details some of the costs against one of the most impressive performance trucks currently on the market.

He did this after owning the truck for three months and adding over 10,000 miles to the odometer.

At the start of the video, Loerop confirms he has had some problems with the EV.

There are positives, however, such as the Tesla truck’s impressive ground clearance that enables it to ride over all sorts of bumps and obstacles, and even take in off-road trails.

However, it’s the financial breakdown that’s the most interesting aspect of owning the Cybertruck.

Loerop paid $135,816.37 for his Foundation Series Cybertruck, which is a huge amount of money.

Although it’s surprisingly not much more than the Ford F-150 Raptor, which costs $123,736.

So, had he just bought the Raptor, he would have already saved around $12,000.

For one year of electricity, the YouTuber worked out that he would pay around $1,476 to recharge the Tesla over that period.

Compare that to the Raptor’s cost, however, and that sees a fuel cost per year of $8,874, so it’s a massive increase.

Insurance for the Tesla costs $3,244 for 12 months, versus the $2,500 a year for the Raptor.

Then came the 10-year cost of owning both, with Loerop working out that it would cost $183,016 for the Tesla.

For the F-150 Raptor, however, that would add up to $237,476 according to his case study.

That means that despite costing more, the Cybertruck would represent a saving of $54,460 over 10 years.

Those figures are quite surprising, and something for many to bear in mind if they’re thinking of switching to an EV.

The $50,000 of savings might not be true for every vehicle, but it’s certainly a plus point for the Cybertruck.
