Cameras inside the Chevy Corvette ZR1 caught the moment the vehicle smashed the Road Atlanta’s lap record.

During development, the Corvette ZR1 hit speeds in excess of 346km/h (215mph).

And the team behind the vehicle has been putting all that power to good use by taking it out on several tracks where it’s managed to set new records.

It tackled the Road Atlanta with a lap time of 1:22.8 – setting a new benchmark.

It’s been a record-breaking month for the Chevy Corvette ZR1

The ZR1 is the most powerful Corvette ever and comes with a mind-blowing 1,064 horsepower.

It’s also the most expensive Corvette ever.

It’s recently been smashing records on tracks around the United States, including Watkins Glen Long Course, Virginia International Raceway, and Road Atlanta.

Incredible footage from inside the ZR1’s cabin shows the moment it hit a lap time of just 1:22.8 at the Road Atlanta track.

The Chevy Corvette ZR1 crushed the previous fastest lap time of 1:24.88 set by a Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Corvette engineer Chris Barber was behind the wheel for the record-setting event.

“I was thrilled to get Road Atlanta because of the history Corvette has there,” Barber said.

“It’s my favorite track in North America. Coming away with a two-second-faster lap record was beyond exciting for me.”

The new ZR1 is set to go into production later this year

Barber previously broke the lap record at Road Atlanta back in 2019 while driving a C7 Corvette ZR1 – but was quick to reveal that he enjoyed driving the new model more.

“That car is awesome, but it’s harder to put down power,” he said.

“The mid-engine car is just more friendly—it puts power down easier having that weight in the back.”

The new Chevrolet Corvette goes into production in mid-2025 at their Bowling Green Assembly plant.

Prices start at $174,995, whilst the convertible version starts at $184,995.

If you fancy bagging one for yourself, Chevrolet will begin accepting orders later this month.
