If you’re going to launch an insane new off-roader, there’s no better way to do it than getting rally legend Ken Block to thrash it in the Californian desert.

That’s exactly what Ram has done for the launch of its 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition.

With the release of the latest addition to the Ram pickup truck lineup, the brand handed Block the keys to it in the Johnson Valley and told him to go his hardest.

Unsurprisingly, that’s exactly what he did, starting off by testing out its launch control system on the dirt before hitting the dunes.

“There are certain things out here that this truck will do great, it’s really quite fun,” Block says while hitting 145km/h (90mph) on the sand.

“It just handles high-speed [off-road driving] so well, you really feel like the dampening is soaking up a lot.”

Block also noted how controlled the Ram 1500 TRX was when sliding.

“We were only up on two wheels once,” he laughed.

“It wouldn’t be off-roading if I didn’t bicycle, alright?”

What’s new on the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition?

Primarily, the Sandblast Edition has been designed to offer TRX buyers a wider range of customization options straight from the factory.

Defined by its Mojave Sand paintwork, it’s paired with matching Light Frost contrast stitching and embroidered logos inside.

The Sandblast Edition comes based on the top-spec TRX Level 2 Equipment Group model.

Unique 18-inch black beadlock-capable wheels are the biggest upgrade outside.

A spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs and bed step are also included.

A special center console badge is also included to let everyone know you’ve got the best of the best in the TRX range.
