When it comes to jumping in the car and getting from A to B, there is an age-old Waze vs Google Maps debate over which system is better.

Both have their perks and their downfalls, and many drivers have their favorites.

So, to put the digital maps debate to bed once and for all, one person decided to really put them to the test.

And, after giving each of the navigation systems a fair chance at being top dog, there was one clear winner.

The big Waze vs Google Maps debate is finally over

When deciding on what navigation system to use, there have always been conflicting answers. Some motorists prefer to stick with Google Maps, but others prefer Waze.

The debate of which system is better has been going on for years, but now one journalist from ZDNET has decided to put both of them to the test and see which one comes out on top.

Thanks to Google‘s popularity and versatility, allowing it to perform many different uses, Google Maps is a popular choice, but Waze’s ability to tell drivers about speed cameras also means that the app is equally as loved.

Each GPS system had eight shots at winning, so it really was Waze vs Google Maps.

The journalist tested elements including real-time re-routing, travel modes, incident and traffic reporting, police and speed trap alerts, AI voice assistance, offline maps, availability, and the general design of the systems.

And, whilst Waze was praised for its detailed reporting of police alerts, traffic incidents, and rerouting ability, there was a clear winner.

Unsurprisingly, Google came out on top, with two more wins over Waze, taking its winning figure up to five.

Google Maps was praised for its compatibility elements and travel modes, meaning you could use it to easily walk or get public transport.

But, a near tie did lie in the AI voice assistance modes on both apps, as Gemini is active on both platforms.

Overall, both were good choices, but the tech giant slightly took the top spot this time.

Google is a dominating force worldwide

Google doesn’t just reign when it comes to GPS apps; the tech platform has many uses, most of which are integrated into everyday life.

For example, the company has even created tech that won’t let you drive if it thinks you’re bad at it, clever right?

Plus, there’s even a special way to figure out when the iconic Google Street View car is coming to your area when the time comes for a refresher of the system.
