A fan-designed unicorn rode shotgun on the helmet of F1 sweetheart Carlos Sainz as he recorded his best race of the year and was voted Driver of the Day at the Baku Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz proved that form is temporary, but class is permanent, in his recent Formula 1 outing in Baku.
Having moved to Williams, making way for Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari switch, Sainz has been forced to endure time in the middle of the pack after landing multiple race wins the year prior.
But after landing his first podium finish in Williams colors, it looks like Carlos Sainz had a little token of good luck that pushed him over the line.

The cute reason why Carlos Sainz has a unicorn sticker on his helmet
Carlos Sainz has become the people’s driver in F1, winning over the community with his meme quality and lovable personality.
His latest performance in the Baku Grand Prix typified this, as he stole the show from Max Verstappen, despite finishing two cars behind.
And his status as the F1 sweetheart has only increased with this, as a little bit of unicorn dust was sprinkled on his helmet, inspired by a young fan.
Named Sprinkles or Sparkles – to be decided – the unicorn was pitched to Sainz in a Williams Racing content piece named Call Carbono, where Sainz and Alex Albon took the role of Agony Uncles.
One of the callers was a young F1 fan called Thea, who asked whether Carlos Sainz would wear a sticker of her teddy on his helmet.
Of course, he obliged. Thea sent in her sticker, and the Williams crew stuck it to the back of his Spanish-themed lid.

In an upload ahead of the race, Sainz revealed it was a ‘promise that I was never going to break.’
“It’s beautiful, so thank you very much. And I will have it this weekend as we promised,” he said.
It proved to be the magic that Williams needed, as Sainz landed the team’s first podium – in a full race – since 2017.
A new good luck charm
Carlos will likely be holding onto the sticker for the rest of the season after securing his best race all year.
A P2 finish in Qualifying allowed him to fend off competition from Kimi Antonelli and finish third in the Baku Grand Prix, securing his first trophy of the season.
Sprinkles/Sparkles even found her way onto the trophy.

F1 helmets have become quite a fascination as of late, as Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari headwear has been transformed into a LEGO piece.
With this particular visor being so popular, it might even become one of the most valuable helmets ever made.
