How this car lover went from working at BMW to reviewing cars for a living
To turn your passion into a career is a great privilege.
And if your passion is cars, then all the better.
We’ve seen that many times, whether it be with YouTubers like The Bearded Explorer, or a taxi driver like Gregorios Sachinidis.

As for 28-year-old Lucy, she gets to live out her interest in cars everyday, thanks to her YouTube channel.
She’s reviewed tons of cars, from Porsches to Range Rovers to Teslas.
Lucy described herself as a ‘lifelong petrolhead’ and that much is clear from her childhood.
Speaking to Supercar Blondie, she said: “A huge part of my childhood revolved around cars.
“Going to car shows with my dad on the weekends and experiencing Goodwood festival of speed and other motor shows certainly sparked a little flame in me from where my passion grew.”
Years later, she ended up working at BMW and it was no exaggeration to say she became something of a Jack of all trades.
She recalled: “There wasn’t many jobs I didn’t do during my time at BMW!
“I started off working on reception at the weekends whilst I was at college and then started an apprenticeship where I moved around the different departments.
“I spent time as a body shop administrator, a service advisor, a ‘product genius’ – yes that’s a real name – and then moved into the sales department where I qualified as a sales executive.
“Working in the motor trade is a lot of fun but certainly not for the faint hearted! I loved all the product launch events and getting to see all the new tech as and when it first came out.

“At the launch of the G10/G11 7 series I remember just being totally blown away by the spaceship I sat in but a lot of that tech is now today’s standard!
“Getting return customers come in and see you for their next purchase was always lovely too.”
Whilst there, she began filming videos on the new cars that came in, and would assist in running BMW’s social media channels.
In hindsight, she admitted it was ‘funny’ to think how she was now essentially doing those roles on her own platform.
In 2018, Lucy parted ways with BMW and went traveling with her partner George.
What has been Lucy’s favorite car to review on her channel?
Whilst traveling through Asia, the two of them started vlogging full time on their YouTube channel.
Upon returning to the UK, they decided they wanted to start a second channel and one centered around cars seemed like the natural option.

Lucy said: “When I purchased my first Range Rover L322, I started the channel and since then we’ve gone through many cars, many reviews and just love that we get to do this as part of our job.”
Going fulltime with YouTuber was something that had been at the back of her mind for a few years by this point.
She said: “I always thought ‘what if’ we could make this work as our full-time thing? And I think the fear of never trying and never knowing was far greater than the fear of failing.
“It was certainly a risk at the time but it is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made and I couldn’t encourage others more to try that thing they’ve always wanted to do.”
Of the multiple cars she’s reviewed over the years, some stand out in particular.
Her favorite is her latest purchase – a Porsche 911 996.1 Carrera 4, which she previously reviewed.

“It’s an absolute dream and so much fun!”, Lucy said.
“Being the 4, it handles beautifully and the 3.4l petrol engine has some serious go! Mine has an upgraded Miltech sports exhaust, which might just be my favorite sound in the world.
“The condition for the age is just amazing and I really can’t imagine ever selling it as I think I found a total gem!”
For Lucy, the best period of cars was between 2000 and 2012.
“I think it’s that mix between comfort with a few modern luxuries as well as the more analog, manual and simplicity of that age,” she said.

“The Audi S5 was heaps of fun as well as the new Defender 110.
“I do find though that creating videos of car ownership are more interesting to film and watch as you get a real life insight of what it’s like to live with the car, not just how it drives/feels after a short time using it.
“We are currently on the lookout for our next family car so there will be another one on our driveway very soon. Watch this space!”
Currently sitting on her driveway is a BMW 330e M Sport Touring, a Porsche 911 996.1 Carrera 4 Coupe, and a Lotus Elan M100 (S1).
