A Canadian man who bought a 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo brand new and driven it 826,664 miles has explained why he can’t stop driving it.

Bill MacEachern was interviewed by TJ Lamb, from the Magnacars YouTube channel, about his driving experience.

He’s had a lot of great memories with this car, ranging from road trips to motorsports.

Having gone as far as to say Porsche ‘got it perfect’ with this car, there’s no question about his fondness for the 911 Turbo – but what makes it so special?

This Canadian man had a lot of fond memories attached to his 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo

Lamb flew out to Toronto to interview MacEachern, in what he described as the ‘most significant interview I’ve been fortunate to do’.

It’s easy to see why – this car held a lot of sentimental value within it.

MacEachern had bought it brand new back when it was released, when it was the first 930 Turbo delivered to Canada.

Within a few months, he’d racked up 12,000 miles.

Over the past 50 or so years, the car has been driven at every opportunity, accruing 826,664 miles in the process.

During the past few decades, there would have no doubt been other turbos that could have taken this car’s place.

But he’s never traded in his car, because he simply loves it that much.

He’s taken it back and forth from Canada to the US, attending events like the Texas Mile, where it hit 176mph.

Don’t be mistaken, this car hasn’t gone totally unmodified over the years.

This Porsche 911 Turbo has some upgrades, including custom wheels, racing seats, and a roll cage.

Despite the impressive mileage on this car’s odometer, he was never aiming for this; it just ‘kind of happened’.

“Companies make cars to try to improve them and try to change the styling and so on,” MacEachern opined to Lamb.

“Every once in a while, they get it perfect, but this is one they got perfect. So I’m not fooling around.”

“You found a good one, so you’re holding onto it,” Lamb replied.

If anyone can recognize a good car when he sees one, it’s Magnacars

In his time on YouTube, Lamb has seen a lot of awesome cars through his work on Magnacars.

Whether it’s an abandoned movie car collection or Fast and Furious collection in a Missouri warehouse, he’s seen a lot of fascinating vehicles.

He himself has good taste in cars – the 1971 Rolls-Royce he got as his first car is proof of that.

Through his ‘Why I Drive’ series, he’s putting the spotlight on the people driving these wonderful cars.

And met some incredible people in the process.
