Paramount Marauder Mark 2

The Paramount Marauder is back, and it’s more unstoppable than ever.

The original Marauder was first brought to global attention in 2011.

But now, South Africa’s Paramount Group has revealed its ‘Mark 2’ successor that claims to be stronger and faster than before.

Paramount Marauder bulletproof and mine-resistant

The Paramount Marauder is bulletproof and mine-resistant.

The entire hull of the vehicle is double skinned, making it resistant to IEDs and mines.

Obviously, the entire monocoque is bulletproof as well.

There are also anti-blast seats to protect occupants from the forces of blasts or attacks.

Headlining the changes is a new dashboard – might not sound that interesting at first, but it’s quite revolutionary.

Paramount Group says the new Marauder is fitted with a ‘universal hull’ meaning the entire dashboard is interchangeable.

The key reason for this is so that it can be converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive.

This is important given how widely used the vehicle already is, with it operational in armed forces across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and South East Asia.

There’s also a new six-cylinder turbo diesel engine under the hood.

Although the company doesn’t say how much power it makes, it claims a top speed of 110km/h (68mph).

Not bad for a vehicle weighing over 9500kg (21,000lbs).

It can also be operated in almost all conditions, with the company saying it can operate at -20°C all the way up to 50°C.

With an available night vision system, it makes surveillance work or attacks possible at any time of day.

The configuration depends on how many seats you opt for.

Paramount offers it as an armoured personnel carrier, ambulance, fire support vehicle, or command vehicle.

For APC versions, there’s a range of turret options as well for use in combat situations.

Although pricing hasn’t been announced for the Marauder Mark 2, the original model was believed to cost around $485,000.

So the new one is expected to be priced around the $500,000 mark.
