Two years after buying it for $57.25 million, Kanye West has listed his Tadao Ando-designed mansion in Malibu, California for $53 million.

It wasn’t that long ago that Ye parted with his Hidden Hills house, selling it at a six-figure loss.

Perhaps he’s needing the capital to fund the building of his own city in the Middle East.

Who knows, but what we do know is he bought the Malibu beachfront property back in 2021 and began a gut renovation that was never completed.

According to listing agent, Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, it “will take several million dollars” for the house to be finished.

Despite having a hefty price tag, the roughly 4,000-square-foot house needs windows and doors, along with plumbing, electrical, HVAC and interior finishes.

Hardly enticing, is it?

Ye isn’t the only celeb to buy a beachfront Ando-designed mansion in Malibu, though.

Earlier this year, Beyoncé and Jay-Z dropped $200 million on this 40,000-square-feet pad.

Back to Ye’s house, which was built in 2013 by Wall Street heavyweight, Richard Sachs.

Apparently, it took him seven years on planning, permitting and construction, before listing the finished house for $75 million in 2020.

In true Ando fashion, the property’s constructed out of smooth concrete – 1,200 tons to be precise – with 200 tons of steel and 12 pylons driven more than 60 feet into the sand.

The three-story house has four bedroom and giant window openings facing the water, with an additional 1,500-square-feet of deck space.

Just a few months ago, Kanye West was sued by a contractor who worked on the Malibu mansion and was also a live-in caretaker.

He alleged he was forced to work 16 hours a day and sleep on the floor close to open insulation, according to court documents.

The contractor claimed he was fired when he refused to rip out the home’s electrical system and replace the wiring with large generators, which he felt would be a fire hazard.

Kanye West denied the allegations.
