Bugatti made everyone’s day almost two weeks ago when it announced that the upcoming Chiron successor wouldn’t be powered by batteries or a puny inline-four engine.

Amazingly, the next Bugatti will still be fitted with 16 cylinders.

And now we also have a vague idea of what it looks like.

When Croatian EV automaker Rimac acquired Bugatti to form the new company that’s now called Bugatti-Rimac, most people feared this would mark the end of the W16 engine.

However, shortly thereafter, Mate Rimac himself, founder of Rimac Automobili and CEO of Bugatti-Rimac, made it clear killing the gas engine was not on the cards.

Then, just a few days ago, Bugatti teased the engine with a short clip and an image that left no doubt.

The number of cylinder remains the same, 16, except they’re now shaped like a ‘V’, instead of a ‘W’, and there’ll be a small electric unit as well, making this a hybrid car.

And now there’s more.

Bugatti-Rimac’s boss Mate Rimac shared a new clip of the upcoming hypercar on Instagram, and it’s clear it’s picking up where the Chiron left off.

The clip gives us a hint of the overall shape of the new car, which combines visual cues from both the Veyron and the Chiron.

The new headlamp design is visible, as is Bugatti’s signature ‘C’ line.

The new hypercar will be powered by an 8.3-liter V16 hybrid that is expected to produce 1,800 horsepower.

It will also have two electric motors on the front axle and then another one between the engine and transmission.

The car was unveiled to prospective buyers earlier today, so we can expect more details about pricing, availability and spec in the coming weeks.
