Last week, McLaren unveiled its brand-new 2022 MCL36 Formula One race car to the world, which is fortuitous because Lego has just done the same.
The Lego Technic creation, which is based on McLaren’s 2021 orange and blue livery, was so popular it sold out within just days.
Helping to launch the new Lego kit are 2022 McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo who will be driving the real thing on race circuits across the world.
Ricciardo playfully told Norris the model was the perfect size for him, adding “everything would fit but your head”.
The real MCL36 is powered by a Mercedes-AMG M13 E Performance engine that revs all the way up to 15,000 RPM.
The Lego version is slightly different…
Lego’s entire McLaren kit consists of 1432 pieces and when built, the MCL36 measures over five inches tall, 25.5 inches long and 10.5 inches wide.
Other features seen on the Lego kit include active suspension and a Drag Reduction System spoiler.
The Lego Technic version of the MCL36 F1 car is now available on Lego’s website and costs $179.99 in the U.S. Let’s hope there’s a restock soon!
