Buying your first car is a significant moment for most people, but this man had to voluntarily abandon his first purchase, a 1971 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, in the United States — only to rescue it five years later from a different country.
Now, why did he do that?
Well, the owner was in high school when he first got the Rolls, and he was financially limited when it came to restoring it.
It was in dire need of restoration because it was badly broken and needed an extensive series of repairs.

The sad story behind this 1971 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
YouTuber Magnacars recently shared the story of his first car, the 1971 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, in a video.
It was apparently the car of his dreams, but there was one big problem.
The Rolls had a head gasket problem and couldn’t even start, let alone drive.
Unlike these guys who got a Silver Shadow with a problem under the hood, it was a hefty repair for Magnacars.
Unfortunately, because he was so young, he didn’t have the money he needed to restore it.
So, the YouTuber had no choice at the time but to put it in a garage and forget about it.
He went on to buy several more cars over the years, which might sound a bit questionable given his tight budget.
They included a high-maintenance retro Porsche and an old Audi A4.
He imported the car to Canada to fix it
The YouTuber moved to Canada not long after, leaving his Rolls-Royce behind in the garage.
At least his Silver Shadow wasn’t ‘haunted’ over the years like this one.
Only recently, he found a workshop that was offering to fix it by doing an LS Swap.
For context, an LS swap is replacing any car’s engine with a ‘better’ V8 unit made by General Motors.
Finally, the YouTuber went back to Montana, United States, so he could ‘import’ his car to Canada himself.
He said it was an easier process than he expected.
After spending some time at the border, his Rolls-Royce arrived in Alberta, Canada, to get its LS swap.
Now, an LS engine on Rolls-Royce is certainly not something you see every day, and you might not even agree with it, but it helped this guy to get his dream car running once more.
After all, weird LS swaps, like this Tesla with a V8, do stand out.
