A man who switched from his gas-powered vehicle to a Ford F-150 Lightning EV has shared his honest thoughts on his new truck.
The man said that despite being a self-professed ‘car guy’, his new EV had him doing some things differently.
The car-lover said he could happily talk about cars all day and was keen to share his thoughts on the Ford F-150 Lightning.
After owning the truck for several months, he admitted to being ‘head over heels’ over his EV.

Many folks who have made the switch from an ICE-powered vehicle to an all-electric have been quick to praise new EVs.
Many mention the lower costs associated with running an EV, while one man questioned why anyone would ever buy a gas-powered vehicle ever again.

But over on Reddit, one fairly new convert to EVs said he just loved everything about his Ford F-150 Lightning.
“I’m absolutely head over heels over it every day I get in,” he wrote.
“I just love everything about how it drives. I love the complete quietness. I love the instant power, the lack of revving, and having to build power.”
He went on to say that his truck had him doing things differently from how he had in the past, including cleaning it more frequently and thoroughly than his old gas vehicles, and using it to go on ‘slow drives’ around his neighborhood.
“Enjoying the complete silence. Windows down. Cool air is coming through. It just feels amazing, and I love the peace it brings,” he added.
The newly confirmed EV mega fan said he wasn’t missing going to a gas station, which is completely understandable.

However, he also went further, saying that compared to electric, gas-powered cars felt ‘archaic’.
“The smell of gas, diesel, and oil is just unnecessary, and I don’t enjoy it. It didn’t bother me before, but now it just seems like caveman times.”
Fellow EV-loving Redditors were quick to agree, with a Rivian owner saying it felt ‘immediately familiar and completely new all at once’.
“The experience of driving our EV makes ICE vehicles seem noisy and primitive,” another commented.
“I’ve had my Lightning for a year and it is by far the best car I’ve ever owned,” said another.
