At last, the long-awaited Apple iPhone SE 4, which is now actually called iPhone 16e, is finally here.
After weeks – maybe months – of rumors, leaks, discussions, and Reddit threads, we finally get to look at the finished product.
The first thing that stands out – as per usual – is how scarily accurate those leaks were.
The second thing is the price because this is by far the cheapest model available.

The first new iPhone in a long time
The new Apple iPhone SE 4 was launched with a simple press release, but there were no grandiose events or presentations, which means we didn’t get to see another pair of sneakers designed with an iPad for Tim Cook.
As predicted, the new smartphone is based on hardware from the iPhone 14 but has its own design.
This is unprecedented.
The first SE was a reworked 5s while the second and third were both based on the 8.
There was a lot going on under the ‘hood’ but, visually, there were zero differences in the tech.
The new smartphone is different.
The front part does look like a 14 model, and by the way, the new phone features the old-school notch, not Dynamic Island, but the back of the phone is different.
Totally redesigned, it features a single 48MP camera and a clean design.

Obviously, it also has USB-C, and it uses the A18 chip, which makes it compatible with Apple Intelligence.
It’s also relatively inexpensive, coming in at $599, which means it’s half the price of the 15 and 16.
Available in black or white, with 128, 256 or 512GB.
What’s next for the smartphone line-up?
The next iteration should be unveiled – as per tradition – in September and it should add a third option to the line-up aside from iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.
For a long time, people have been speculating about the upcoming iPhone Air.
Apple uses the ‘Air’ namesake for lighter, simpler, and less expensive versions of their products.

So far, we’ve had the iPad Air and MacBook Air, but we’ve never seen an iPhone Air.
The first one is expected to debut in September, and it should be the thinnest iPhone ever designed.
Apple should also redesign the camera bump for the first time in nearly 10 years.
