EVs aren’t just catching on in the real world – fictional characters from Barbie to Iron Man are also going electric.

We’ve been seeing a lot of EVs out on the roads and streets of the towns in which we live.

But they’re also popping up in TV shows and films too.

Here are five fictional characters that drive EVs.

These fictional characters are keeping it eco-friendly with their EVs, from Iron Man to Barbie

It’s no secret that there’s a ton of iconic pop culture cars out there.

Whether it’s the DeLorean or Lightning McQueen, we’ve seen a lot of cars cruise across our cinema screens over the years.

And that’s not discounting the TV screen either – after all, we all remember where we were when SpongeBob SquarePants passed his driving test, right?

But what about fictional characters who want to keep things environmentally friendly in their respective worlds?

We’ve compiled a list of five fictional characters that are leading the way with their car choices, whether they be animated or superheroes.

Barbie – Custom pink Corvette EV

When the Barbie movie hit the big screen back in 2023, it made a huge splash – in addition to earning star Margot Robbie a ton of money.

Yeah, life in plastic really was fantastic – but it could also be eco-friendly.

When driving from Barbieland to the human world, Barbie makes use of a chic pink Corvette, while Ryan Gosling’s Ken drives an electric Hummer.

But it doesn’t stop there.

You might recall that Barbie needed a quick escape later in the movie, and that’s when a Mattel employee played by America Ferrera pulled up to help in a blue car.

But did you know it was an EV?

It was Chevrolet Blazer EV, to be exact.

All this time that people were talking about being ‘Kenough’, and the movie’s hidden message was about going electric.

Tony Stark/Iron Man – Tesla Roadster and Audi R8 e-tron

Tony Stark is a man of many good qualities – he’s a genius, he’s very successful, and he has great taste in cars.

Over his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ve seen Robert Downey Jr rock up in many cool EVs.

This includes the Audi e-tron, which has appeared in Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame.

He’s also evidently a Tesla fan, as he drove a Roadster in the first movie, which came out back in 2008.

This fits as even the film’s screenwriter has said that Stark was based on Musk, Donald Trump, and Steve Jobs.

“Musk took the brilliance of Jobs with the showmanship of Trump. He was the only one who had the fun factor and the celebrity vibe and actual business substance,” Mark Fergus told New York Magazine in 2022.

Musk would later cameo in the film’s sequel.

Brian Griffin – 2004 Toyota Prius

Yes, we know it’s technically a hybrid car, but this is also a car driven by a cartoon dog, so we don’t have to split hairs over this.

With a ‘BRI-D0G’ license plate, Brian is proudly leading the green revolution in Quahog.

It’s not quite clear how a talking dog with no job was able to afford this car – or get his license – but this is cartoon logic we’re working on here.

Brian is generally the only member of the Griffin family to use this car, but one episode – aptly named Stewie Goes for a Drive – saw Stewie take it for a spin.

As you might expect, a baby driving a car didn’t end well.

Detective Del Spooner – Audi RSQ

Back in 2004, Will Smith gave us a whole new reason to fear cyborgs when he appeared in I, Robot.

But it also gave us the Audi RSQ, which was built specifically for the movie.

With rear-hinged butterfly doors, spherical wheels, and a minimalist interior focused on autonomous driving, this car was cool from top to bottom.

It even inspired a real-life car – the Audi R8.

Lois Lane – Toyota bZ

EVs aren’t limited to superheroes – their love interests are driving them too.

Lois Lane was seen driving this car in the new Superman movie.

The intrepid reporter is seen driving the bZ as she arrives at the Hall of Justice to seek help from the Justice Gang – a superhero group consisting of heroes like Hawkgirl and Green Lantern.

The car’s appearance was part of a wider partnership between Toyota and Warner Bros.

The bZ even made an appearance at the film’s red carpet premiere.
