This stunning 1986 Indy 500 Pace Car edition Corvette convertible is finished in pristine white over a red interior and has just 16,000 miles on the clock.

The Corvette became the pace car for the Indy 500 in 1986.

To mark the occasion, Chevrolet offered cool graphics that could be added to any 1986 Corvette convertible to turn it into a pace car replica.

Almost 40 years on, this beautiful low-mileage example is up for grabs in Illinois.

The 1986 Corvette convertible is in incredible condition

The Corvette is a true icon.

Hailed as the world’s most popular sports car, the Corvette has been around since 1953 and is still managing to set new records

The year 1986 was a big one for Corvette, it introduced its first convertible model since 1975 and it became the Indy 500 pace car.

While the official pace car was yellow, all 1986 convertibles had an Indy 500 emblem mounted on the console and could use the optional decals, meaning any color could be a Pace Car Edition.

Like this all white model that was recently put up for sale by SunSpeed.

Despite being almost four decades old, the ‘Vette appears to be in incredible shape and still sports the Indy 500 Pace Car graphics.

Inside is a similar story with an immaculate red leather interior, power sport bucket seats and a premium Delco-Bose sound system.

The previous owner has also had it fitted with a keyless entry system.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 5.7 liter L98 V8 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission which produces up to 235 horsepower.

Its tip top condition can probably at least partly be attributed to the fact the car has been very lightly used with only 16,092 miles on the clock.

The Corvette has had a recent service and runs and drives ‘excellently’ according to the listing.

The car is looking for a new owner

If you’ve always dreamed of owning a classic Corvette convertible, then you’re in luck because this 1986 model is on the hunt for a new home.

It’s currently being offered for sale in Illinois by dealer SunSpeed and comes with a price tag of $22,500.
