The best-selling car of all time, the Toyota Corolla, is about to get the most radical makeover in its lifetime.

The Corolla has been a mainstay of Toyota’s range for decades, and is still a very popular car, especially in the United States, where it is perfect for families.

At the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, the company has teased a few snippets, including one for an upcoming Corolla Concept that hints at a radical makeover.

While it has undergone multiple changes in the past, this could be the biggest yet in the model’s history.

What has been teased for the new Toyota Corolla?

While a popular car, the Corolla isn’t a stand-out design.

It’s cheap, reliable, dependable, and not complicated in how it drives, performs, and looks.

But Toyota is looking to give it a radical makeover this time around.

Images have revealed a radical-looking concept, and it has moved away from the traditional hatchback shape.

The new concept looks more like a saloon, similar to the Kia EV4 Fastback.

It boasts a sleek and slippery aesthetic, which could have extra benefits.

If Toyota brings out an electric version of the saloon, that shape will be perfect for increasing efficiency.

The EV speculation, however, has not been confirmed.

The best-selling car will look nothing like it did previously

Such is the drastic change in the design that this Corolla looks nothing like the current model.

Gone are the anonymous design cues, and in comes a sharp, angular nose, with a great full-width light bar.

Vertical headlights complete the look, and at the back, there is futuristic pixel-style lighting.

A ducktail spoiler is also visible, akin to what we see on the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The Corolla name written large on the tailgate very much confirms what the new car is.

This represents a monumental shift from Toyota, and a risky one too.

Should customers not take to the radical design, then sales could drop.

But, after so many years of looking quite tame, a massive refresh like this is likely to be welcomed by many.

We should get all the answers we are seeking at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.
