A tech billionaire from Kerala spent $53,000 to get his hands on a personalized license plate for his Lamborghini Urus Performante.

Venu Gopalakrishnan recently bought himself a slick new, lime-green Lamborghini Urus.

And to make his vehicle complete he decided to get a personalized plate.

The bids started at around $290 but soon shot up and Gopalakrishnan was happy to part with a lot of cash to get his hands on the special plate.

Some folks aren’t content with just having a flash, high-end car and want a personalized plate to complete the look.

And they can sell for an astronomical amount.

In 2023, one motorist handed over a whopping $15 million to secure the world’s most expensive plate.

The plate in question – which is simply P7 – was sold in Dubai to a Tesla owner.

And in the UK a personalized plate that was ideal for a Rolls-Royce once sold for  $616,836

The plate in question was issued back in 1925 and simply reads RR1 and was declared ‘one of the most special registration plates in the world’ ahead of its sale in 2018.

Over in Kerala, India, tech billionaire Venu Gopalakrishnan – CEO of Litmus7 – set a new record after parting with $53,000 to get a new plate for his Lamborghini Urus Performante.

The license plate was the most expensive to be sold in the state, according to Kerala Motor Vehicles Department.

The plate held a special meaning for him

The license plate reads ‘KL 07 DG 0007’ and Gopalakrishnan was keen to buy it as the number seven is his favorite. So much so, he even called his business Litmus7.

“Years ago, my interest in the number seven started when we had an Ambassador car bearing the number 1717,” he told Fortune India

“All my phone numbers now end with seven and my other cars also have seven as part of their registration numbers.”

He was slightly hesitant to spend as much as he did on the plate, but decided it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

“Well, when the auction was going on, I had my doubts whether to outbid the last amount that came up,” he said.

“[But] it was too much of a temptation to let go.” Fair enough.
