Hot off the back of the success of the BYD Yangwang U9, the popular Chinese EV makers are set to release a wild 3,000hp ‘Track edition’ electric supercar after filing new trademarks.
BYD has soared in popularity throughout China and Europe, with its flagship Ocean series, featuring the Seal and Dolphin, doing the heavy lifting.
But the regular ‘affordable’ manufacturer also has some wizardry up its sleeve.
Now, BYD is reported to be launching a Yangwang U9 Track edition, boasting over 3,000hp.

BYD Yangwang U9 Track Edition set to be a 3000HP monster
The base car, the BYD Yangwang U9, is already touted as the third fastest EV in the world, in terms of top speed, with its 243.5mph lagging only behind the Aspark Owl and the Rimac Nevera R.
It’s lightning quick and literally dances around streets and racetracks.
However, BYD has just filed an upgraded version of the already-beastly EV with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The company claims that the BYD Yangwang U9 will have over 3,000hp and will improve on the 2.36-second 0-60 time of the original supercar.

The motors reportedly work in a similar way to the Lotus Evija, which has broken records for the quickest acceleration times in the world.
With one 555 kW motor powering each wheel, the four-pronged powertrain is set to thrust out 2,220 kW (3,019hp), which is double that of the current U9.
The filing also claims that the Track Edition will be heavier and have improvements to its balance, while keeping its signature glossy black-on-red carbon fiber exterior.
This Chinese supercar looks to be the most powerful EV out there
A range of Chinese electric supercars have been looking to rival those of Europe and America.
Notably, one new PHEV is a supercar that will directly rival the McLaren Atura and Ferrari SF90, while the new fully-electric Zeekr 001 is rumored to be the first Chinese EV to surpass 2,000hp.
BYD, however, is looking to fly straight past the 2k mark and head straight for 3,000hp, which is at the very edge of what a combustion engine can handle.

There’s currently no time frame as to when we can expect to see the new Chinese electric supercar. But the famous manufacturer seldom wastes time.
