The Yangwang U9 by BYD has officially become one of the fastest EV cars in the world.
During testing in November, the electric supercar achieved a stunning top speed of 243.54mph.
The car outperformed its previous records, to achieve this milestone.
And now the EV supercar has cemented its position as the third-fastest electric vehicle globally.

BYD Yangwang U9 becomes the third fastest EV in the world
Only the Rimac Nevera (258 mph) and the Aspark Owl SP600 prototype – still the fastest EV at 273 mph – are faster than the Yangwang U9.
When the Yangwang U9 was first announced, it was already a head-turner with its promised top speed of 192mph.
But the car’s quad-motor powertrain, delivering an impressive 1,300 horsepower, had the potential to push even further.
By the summer, the Yangwang U9 reached 233 mph, and now, just a few months later, it has exceeded expectations again by crossing 243 mph.
Impressively, the supercar has comfortably outrun competitors like the Pininfarina Battista, once known as the world’s fastest-accelerating car.
Yangwang entered the supercar world with bold ambitions of challenging giants like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.
But within no time, the company proved that it would not just compete, but also set new records.
The EV car is setting new records
The car’s performance on the Nürburgring track made an impressive record by completing the 12.9-mile Nordschleife loop in 7:17.9 minutes.
While this time is impressive, it still lags behind many of the brand’s rivals.
That said, the car is sure to improve its performance even further in the future.
The Yangwang U9 isn’t the only EV making headlines.
In fact, the Tesla Model S Plaid once outpaced the Lamborghini Revuelto in a thrilling drag race.
It’s achievements like these which prove there’s still plenty of room for innovation in electric supercars.
