This C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray drag raced a Camaro ZL1, and it ended in just 7.89 seconds.

The action was caught on camera by YouTuber SSDracer and was filmed at the Barona Dragstrip in Lakeside, California.

In one lane was a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and in the other was a fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

When it came to a 1/8th mile race, which car would emerge as the victor?

What went down when a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray took on a Camaro ZL1

Both cars had some impressive stats to their names.

The ZL1 boasts a 6.2-liter LSA supercharged V8 engine with 580hp and 556Ib-ft of torque, autoevolution reported.

That’s higher than the Stingray has to offer, with a respective 495hp.

Nonetheless, you could never call a drag race.

We’ve seen enough surprise results to know that, like the time a Lamborghini Aventador went head-to-head against a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N EV.

It’s all to play for out on the track.

And it didn’t take long for the result to be decided, as the Stingray sped to victory in 7.89 seconds.

The ZL1 came in at a respectable 8.45 seconds.

Ultimately, it’s not always down to power, as preparation and driving ability can play a massive role.

Drag races – the ultimate show of skill

You never know quite what to expect with drag races – there are close call results, but there are also clear-cut victories.

When a Tesla Cybertruck and a gas-powered Ram TRX competed, it was a total slam dunk.

When multiple Dodge Challengers raced a Chevrolet Corvette C8, it was a similarly stark result.

Ditto for the Cybertruck and Hummer EV showdown.

Sure, there’s been plenty of times when results have almost been too close to call

If we’re being honest, it’s the dominating victories that stand out in our minds.

There’s just something so thrilling about a thundering victory that leaves an opponent in the dust.

And if that winning car is considered an underdog? Even better.
