This California Tesla owner believes that now is probably the best time to buy an EV, especially if it’s a Tesla.
In his view, there are two specific reasons for this.
The first reason has to do with Tesla’s long-term strategy, which is clearly working.
The second reason is a global problem that’s likely to get worse.
The company’s strategy is clearly paying off
A while back, an email allegedly sent by Elon Musk to all sales representatives and dealers surfaced and went viral.
Summarized and simplified, the email had a very simple message: every potential would-be Tesla owner must – and there was strong emphasis on ‘must’, not ‘should’ – try FSD during their test drive.
It’s unclear whether the email was legit or not – it may have been – but either way, it reflected Elon Musk’s objective and strategy quite accurately.

For years, Tesla has been trying very hard to convince people to try FSD.
In Musk’s view, that’s because FSD is so good you just don’t want to go back to driving once you’ve tried it.
This particular strategy is working, well over 75 percent of all Teslas sold in the US come with FSD.
According to DennisCW – California-based YouTuber and Tesla owner – this is one of the reasons why now is probably the best time to buy a Tesla.
Demand will continue to go up, but Tesla currently only sells three vehicles, and because FSD is improving at a geometric rate, demand will continue to outpace supply.
“FSD is so damn good. And it’s probably going to be hitting mainstream,” Dennis said in the clip.

The second reason has nothing to do with Tesla and is, sadly, not surprising
The second reason is sadly very predictable, and it is also affecting everyone globally.
Fuel prices are going up and they’ll continue to go up, at least in the near future, which means EVs are on the rise.
To be clear, electricity isn’t free – it can also be very expensive, especially in places like California – but, pound for pound, running an electric vehicle is still generally more financially sensible than running an equivalent internal combustion car.
And Tesla being the leader of the EV sector, at least in some regions, Dennis believes it makes sense to buy an EV right now.

The third reason has to do with timing
Timing is crucial.
This principle applies to everything, and it definitely applies to buying (or selling) cars.
We’re in Q4 and, more importantly, we’re approaching the end of the year.
This means dealers (and Tesla through its direct channels) will do their best to clear existing inventory while they can before 2026 comes to a close and make way for 2027.
If you are flexible regarding colors, options, and so on, you are more likely to find available units toward the end of a quarter.
There are also discounts, particularly on demo vehicles.
In Dennis’ view, flexibility is key.
“Discounts still pop up. You just have to be super flexible,” he said in the video.
In a couple of months, when Tesla reveals its Q4 results, we’ll find out whether Dennis had a point.
