A truly bizarre incident occurred on a public bus in Hamilton, Ontario, after a Canadian man stole a bus, but didn’t drive off into the distance on it.
The incident occurred in the evening of November 11, around 9pm, after the public bus pulled into a terminal.
It was after the driver got off the bus that the random man entered it, shut the doors, and then drove off with all of its passengers.
But, rather than play out as a chaotic scenario, the night felt bizarrely normal for those on the bus.

The man drove the public bus on its normal route
You might have expected this to turn into a hostage situation or a crazed pursuit – but thankfully, no.
After he took the bus, the 36-year-old man simply drove it on its normal route, as if he were the real driver.
He began to pick up passengers, drop off others, and take fares from them for their journeys.
Some remarked that the customer service from this thief was actually very good.
One passenger tried to board with an expired bus pass.

But staying in character, the Canadian man refused them entry.
He made sure that they paid for the ticket instead.
It was a truly strange situation for the vehicle’s passengers.
The police eventually stopped the bus thief
Eventually, though, the Hamilton Police were able to stop the vehicle and get the man off it.
They followed it and eventually got it to stop in a very safe manner.
The suspect didn’t put up a fight and was arrested without much fuss.
Incredibly, the thief even got some praise from the police force.
Hamilton Police’s Trevor McKenna said, “He did a great job.
“It’s comical, but at the same time it’s serious. We’re thankful nobody was hurt.”
Clearly, with how he had conducted himself, it was enough for passengers to feel at ease with him at the controls.
It seems truly bizarre that a thief could actually earn praise from a cop.
Yet there really is nothing normal about this situation.
So it perhaps makes sense that it ended with high praise from the police who arrested him.
