World's Cheapest Truck

The proclaimed cheapest truck on Facebook Marketplace has been primed for a restoration project, but one man instantly found some not-so-obvious flaws.

For quite some time now, Facebook Marketplace has served as limbo, giving cars one last chance to be saved before being sent to car heaven (the scrapyard).

Many plucky mechanics often take punts on these restoration projects too, hoping that a speedy turnaround can lead to quick profits.

Now, the ‘cheapest truck’ on the site has now been bought, but its restoration isn’t as simple as a clean-up.

Why is this the cheapest truck on Marketplace?

The platform has quite a hit-and-miss record.

Some users have found cheap cars and transformed them into incredible new machines like this Chinese Range Rover’.

Others have been stung though, having proven to be hiding some nasty surprises underneath these car hoods.

This time, YouTuber Toby Creates has bought a Nissan D21 ‘hard body’ 4×4 for just $350, intending to save it from scrap and get up and running again.

But the truck was in much worse condition than the YouTube creator imagined, having served as a garbage bin for years.

The mess was almost unbearable.

A decade’s worth of grime, stains, and litter populated the interior.

The exterior was no better, with rust kicking in around the body and the paint flaking off in many spots.

Under the hood was the real issue though. The throttle body injection system needed to be replaced completely while the rust had taken its toll on various other parts such as the battery.

But the car was repaired into a much better state than it could have hoped for.

With a paint job to all of its accents and a deep clean inside and out, this truck was looking much better off.

And, with a new Weber carburetor, white wagon wheels, fresh tires, and a new bumper (all bought off Marketplace too), this Nissan was ready to drive.

The problems in this old banger still persisted though, despite now being ‘driveable’.

Obvious issues with the steering, the clutch, and the gears mean that this restored neanderthal still has some way to go before public reintegration.

Still, the road to recovery was impressive, and now another driver can add more engine fixes to have a cheap and useful truck.
