This Florida man bought a terribly modded 2013 Volkswagen GTI for quite cheap in hopes of trading it for another car.

It is part of a larger project called ‘Wrench It Forward.’

The YouTuber plans to improve poorly-modified cars by making them more functional.

After that, he plans on exchanging these cars for something better to continue the project.

Terribly modded Volkswagen GTI

Automotive YouTuber Freddy ‘Tavarish’ Hernandez recently bought a modded Volkswagen GTI.

Unlike his other projects, this one is a little different as the car is neither wrecked nor in need of a total restoration, like this McLaren P1.

According to Tavarish, he got the GTI for quite cheap from the folks across his garage.

“I asked them if they had something that would be you know interesting and cheap and reliable and cheap and you know like performance oriented but also cheap,” said Tavarish.

They realized how badly the car was modified once they took it for a test drive.

While we have seen some weirdly modded cars, this is the first time we have seen someone ‘Un-Pimp’ these types of vehicles.

‘Un-Pimping’ the car

The modded Volkswagen GTI had handling issues, check engine light indicators flashing, and other performance quirks.

It also had various problematic modifications including oversized “Hot Boy Wheels,” and an overly lowered stance that created issues when driving.

So to fix the car, they upgraded the tires to high-performance Continental ExtremeContact O2s.

They also performed some minor repairs, removed all the odd vinyl wraps, and gave it a nice wash.

After they were done it looked as good as new and ran like a dream.

Tavarish also asked his viewers if they had a car that they would want to trade for this Volkswagen GTI.

“We want to trade this car to one of you.

“So if one of you has an awesome car project that you might have given up on, or it’s just too much for you, or honestly, you just need a daily driver that’s as good as this, then please hit us up,” said Tavarish.
