The owner of a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, who has held onto the car for decades, says he desperately wants the vehicle ‘off his driveway’ where it had spent the past 15 years.
The Chevelle was introduced back in 1964 and went on to become one of Chevy’s most successful nameplates.
The Chevelle ran for three generations until 1977, when it was completely replaced by the Malibu.
The owner of a second-generation model recently put his vintage vehicle up for sale on eBay, and it’s fair to say he was keen to see the back of it.

The Chevrolet Chevelle sat untouched for many years
The owner of the 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle had owned the car since 1985, but it had spent the last decade-and-a-half outside on his driveway, and it really showed.
The years spent exposed to the elements meant that the poor old Chevy was in need of some TLC, and the owner was a very motivated seller.

“Want out of my driveway,” he wrote, and said he would ‘accept [a] reasonable offer’.
The no-nonsense eBay listing explained that the Chevelle had started life as a vinyl top car, but that he ‘hated those’ so had converted to a non-vinyl top instead.
Unfortunately, that change prompted ‘all the rust [to] come back’.
As a result, the classic Chevy would require some extensive bodywork.
The listing explained that there was a ‘typical crack’ in the frame behind the right front wheel that would need to be welded.

He said the car already had some work and upgrades carried out in 2007, which included a new forged crank, which the seller says cost $1,000, and a new Turbo 350 manual transmission.
The car was offered ‘as-is, where-is’, and wasn’t currently running as it needed a new starter.
The car has since been snapped up for less than its asking price
The seller explained that the car was a project and that hopefully its new owner had ‘some bodyman skills’.
The car was listed for $8,900, but as the seller made clear, he was happy to accept a reasonable offer.
And it seems as though he got one, because the car has since been sold.

Although it didn’t get its asking price, the seller accepted the ‘best offer’ made on the Chevelle.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that its new owner can finish what the last one started and get this classic back on the road.
