A classic Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is being transformed into a 400bhp electric vehicle (EV) in a groundbreaking conversion.

It’s a project being led by a British company, Evice.

The electric car will feature a powerful 77kWh battery.

So what does that powerful battery have in store for fans of the modern-yet-classic fusion.

First up: it boasts a 200-mile range that ought to keep range anxiety at bay.

What’s more, it will pack 400BHP.

Evice began by underpinning the classic car’s architecture with an 800-volt structure before placing two electric motors and its battery aboard.

In another RR conversion, a team created a ‘Slay Poupon’, a 900BHP Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with a Dodge Hellcat engine.

With the classic Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow currently having a rather elegant yet sloth-like 0-97km/h (0-60mph) time of around 11 seconds – this electric power ought to help cut it down.

However, while plans are to make the iconic car zippier, the conversion also hopes to maintain the car’s luxurious essence while introducing eco-friendly technology.

In more electric-engine innovation, Mercedes is working on a new ultra-high performance 1,000-horsepower SUV.

The maiden prototype

With the maiden prototype codenamed the ‘XP1’, what else does it have to offer?

Well, aside from the battery, other modern upgrades include active suspension, improved brakes, and a reverse camera.

Rather than the wood and textiles you’d expect in the cabin, Evice is installing electronically adjustable heated seats, a new climate control system, an upgraded audio kit, and an advanced infotainment screen.

These all support and are controlled by smartphone connectivity.

What’s more, passengers will also benefit from chauffeur-driven silence without the roar of an ICE engine.

Prototype production of the XP1 will begin in early 2025, with deliveries planned for Spring 2026 – but no word on pricing as yet.
