This year marked a history-making moment for the Detroit Auto Show.

2022 brought a completely different format with a heavier focus on electric vehicles and tech.

Cadillac has big plans for the future with the Lyric, the brand’s first EV, and the upcoming $320k Celestiq.

The company also ‘recruited’ none other than the President of the United States himself, Joe Biden, to market its cars.

Biden was spotted by Daniel Mac, the TikToker who asks people what they do for a living, while he was at the wheel of the Lyriq.

When asked, Biden responded by saying he’s “married to Jill Biden” and that together they were working to make America more EV friendly.

4. Ford Mustang Dark Horse

Ford launched the all-new 7th-gen Mustang and confirmed it will be powered by a good ol’ V8.

And there’s more good news because the company also revealed a quater-mile-run-friendly version.

It’s called the ‘Dark Horse’ and it is powered by a ‘Coyote’ V8, sending 500+ hp to the rear wheels courtesy of a 10-speed automatic transmission.

And the best part? You can also opt for the six-speed manual version.

3. Lincoln’s spectacular concept cars

Lincoln showed up with two amazing concept cars.

In addition to the ultra-futuristic Lincoln Model L100 that we saw at Pebble Beach, the company also brought the Star, another concept car with super quirky features.

The massive suicide doors reveal a comfy and stylish interior which includes, among other things, special pouches for you laptop inside the door panels.

Supercar Blondie’s Alex Hirschi got an exclusive up-close look at the Lincoln Star at Pebble Beach.

2. The Lingenfelter Collection

Lingenfelter is an engineering company that specializes in pony cars and muscle cars.

The company has a collection of over 250 Corvettes, from the classic ‘Vette from the 1960s to the spectacular C8 Stingray model.

The company brought the goodies to the Detroit party, including the C8 LT3 with the Z51 package.

It’s been fitted with a much larger wing, a much louder exhaust and a lot of carbon fiber.

1. The world’s first hoverbike is unveiled

This has to be the craziest moment from this year’s show.

It’s called the ‘XTURISMO’, and it is basically a quad / bike / eVTOL / hovercraft.

It weighs 300 kg (661 lbs) and can fly for 40 minutes at speeds of up to 62 mph.

Priced at $50,000, it’s a game changer.

You can read more about it here.

Honorable mention: a giant inflatable duck

Visitors couldn’t fail to notice a massive inflatable duck camped outside the venue.

Who put it there, and why?

Unclear.

But who doesn’t love giant ducks?
