A family brought their veteran grandfather to tears of joy after surprising him by fixing up his beloved 1956 MG sports car.
Duane bought his dream 1956 MG sports car in the 1960s while he was stationed in San Diego and it was the ultimate ride for a young man in his 20s.
After moving home to snowy Fargo in North Dakota, and after many years of use, the old sports car became plagued with mechanical issues.
Years before, Duane asked his son-in-law, Doug if he could help him fix the little red dream car up, and Doug agreed and began working on it in secret, in order to surprise his father-in-law.

His restored 1956 MG sports car brought this grandfather to tears
We talk a lot about different times people have saved their money in order to buy themselves their dream cars, but what happens after driving your dream car for many years?
It starts to fall apart.
This is the case of this veteran grandfather, Duane from Fargo, who bought his dream 1956 MG sports car when he was stationed in San Diego in the 1960s.
Originally the car was a vibrant yellow, but he decided to repaint it in a classic red and he drove it everywhere.
It was a symbol of all he achieved, as well as looking cool to boot.
After a few decades of being constantly driven, his beloved sports car was showing its age; it was plagued with frozen cables, worn parts, and general age-related wear.
Even though it became undriveable and was last driven around 1990, the car was a constant talking point within the family.
It had been nicknamed ‘Bobba’s Little Red Car’ and Duane’s eyes lit up whenever he discussed it.

He enlisted his son-in-law for help and he delivered much more
Duane asked his son-in-law Doug to help him restore his beautiful and beloved sports car back to its former glory.
Doug agreed and started secretly working on the car behind his back.
He enlisted the help of a classic car mechanic, specializing in vintage British vehicles and managed to get it back up and running again.
Duane’s family orchestrated a surprise, on July 9, and with the help of Duane’s daughter Michelle and grandchildren: Cooper, Kelyn, Remi, and McCall, the MG was rolled out for a grand reveal.
Duane burst into tears of joy and said it felt like he was reunited with an old friend.
He was grinning ear to ear as he sank back into the ever-so-familiar seat, back behind the wheel once more.
Even the coldest heart will be thawed by this display of emotion at being reunited with an old friend.
