A Ferrari F430 owner became social media’s latest villain as they blocked an EV charging spot and plugged the charger into the car’s rear wheel.

Yes, it’s a lot to take in and it’s quite nonsensical to be honest.

So you know, when an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle parks where an EV should be, it’s called ICEing.

This – however – was an extreme case, and people on the internet certainly didn’t like what they saw.

Ferrari F430 blocks EV charging spot in Greece

First things first, what was a V8-powered sports car doing in an electric charging station?

The Ferrari F430 proudly boasts a 4.3-liter V8 that sends out a generous 483 horsepower.

There are no electric motors involved at all, unlike the latest and greatest Ferrari F80, which has three electric motors.

So, it doesn’t need to be anywhere near an EV charging station.

Which begs the question – why did it end up in a charging spot?

More importantly, why exactly was the charger plugged into the rear wheel?

The pictures you see certainly raise a truckload of questions, and nobody seems to have the answers.

These images were posted on a Greek Facebook group, where an angry citizen raised concern over this Italian sports car.

Not the first gas car involved in shenanigans

Now, ICEing is very much a real problem for all-electric owners, and they often see gas-powered cars parked in their spots.

But perhaps nobody has ever knowingly plugged in the charger on the wheel.

That’s a different level entirely.

Charging tech is advancing rapidly, as some scientists managed to power an EV with a 100 kW wireless charger in 20 minutes.

That still doesn’t justify sticking a gas-powered beast like the Ferrari on a charging spot, though.

Naturally, the comments on the Facebook post were brimming with theories.

Since they are all in a different language, we’ll summarise – a lot of people weren’t happy.

Others were equally frustrated with ICEing in general, while some came with possible reasons – although none were particularly compelling.

Apart from the jokes about the owner electrically inflating the Ferrari’s tires, speculations led to a theory that it was actually an electrified Ferrari F430.

Not that the F430 needs electrification, but you never know what enthusiasts might do.

Luckily for EV owners in Michigan, curbside EV chargers installed in lampposts will start appearing soon – which can only be a good thing.

However, the drivers might still find ICE-powered cars blocking them.
