With all eyes on the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, some people found a savvy way to get an accidentally free broadcast, as public street cameras captured every corner of the thrilling race.

When the F1 circuit rolls into a major city, it turns into a festival of sound, lights, and celebrations.

Las Vegas is no different. Despite concerns about the road circuit, the spectacle is beyond belief, as Sin City turns on everything it has to offer and more.

But, prices to watch the event are as high as the Bellagio rooftop, and it’s led to some people getting quite creative.

Fireworks erupted at the Las Vegas Grand Prix

The Formula 1 season is coming to a scintillating climax as Max Verstappen’s chase of the McLaren duo reared its head again at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Sin City proved pivotal for the Red Bull driver as he stood firm on top of the podium with yet another stunning race win.

This was made even sweeter for Verstappen as both McLaren drivers were disqualified from the race after crossing the chequered flag, meaning his 25 points were pure profit.

On the racetrack, there was explosive drama from the first corner.

As soon as the lights went out on the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Kick Sauber driver Gabriel Bortoleto crashed into an abundance of drivers and ruled Lance Stroll out of action for the rest of the race.

From then on, overtakes were at a premium with Lando Norris doing his utmost to get back ahead of George Russel and both Ferrari drivers finding pace, despite a qualifying disaster.

All of this unfolded on subscription TV channels like ESPN and Sky Sports.

But just as some people found hilarious alternative ways to view the race in the street, some people found a TV workaround by tuning in to the public cameras on the Las Vegas strip for free.

Fans found a free way to watch every corner of every lap thanks to public cameras

Highlighted on X, formerly Twitter, and seen in the header video of this article, the traffic cameras in Las Vegas are free to access and were able to capture live feeds from every corner of the race.

While the quality isn’t quite that of ESPN’s, the public cameras allowed anyone to tune into any part of the circuit they wanted to and watch the cars whip past.

Given that the Formula 1 broadcast can only follow one person at a time, having these cameras on the go could allow you to really hone in on your favorite driver.

Not a bad little treat for those clever enough to tune in.
