George Clooney likes to say thank you in a big way, gifting 14 of his closest friends $1 million each, no strings attached.
Each one arrived at a dinner party to find a Tumi suitcase packed with the cash in $20 bills.
The money delivered like a Hollywood heist – in a florist’s van, straight from a secure vault.
All of it was Clooney’s way of thanking the people who stood by him long before he was famous.

Back in 2013, he invited the group of lucky people over for dinner, with the mega surprise waiting at their seats.
Each guest met with the sleek suitcase stuffed with cash, tax- and stress-free.

No grand speech. No media. Just quiet generosity and a moment that left everyone stunned.
These weren’t celebrity plus-ones – they were the people who had Clooney’s back when he had nothing.
“I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years,” he told GQ.
So when he mapped out all the places his career had taken him, he knew he needed a grand way to pay back the people who helped get him there.
A million bucks each felt about right.
And it was all thanks to a movie that was supposed to flop. Clooney didn’t take a paycheck for Gravity – instead, he took a slice of the profits.

The gamble paid off, and he decided there was no better time to give back.
Rande Gerber, one of the guests and Clooney’s longtime friend, called it a moment that ‘sums up who George is’.
There was nothing flashy about it – just deep gratitude wrapped in $20 bills.
“It was just [his] way of saying thank you.”
