There’s an estate in the Hamptons in New York that’s size of a village, or maybe the size of an entire neighborhood in some cities.
It’s absolutely massive, and it features 39 bathrooms in total.
It’s also expensive, with an estimated value of around $500 million.
But what’s truly incredible is the size of the ‘little’ pond right next to the property.
Where else but the Hamptons?
If the Hamptons were a country, they’d be among the top 10 richest.
If you look at GDP per capita – so wealth per person, basically – the Hamptons would easily be in the top 10 in the world.
They’d be in eighth place, right below Norway and right above the Cayman Islands.
With that in mind, it shouldn’t surprise us that some of the most expensive properties on the East Coast can generally be found in one of two places: Florida and New York, which also includes the Hamptons.
Among others, the Hamptons are home to Fair Field, one of the largest private properties in the world.
The size of the pond is staggering
Located in Sagaponack, between Southampton and East Hampton, Fair Field belongs to a billionaire who had it built in 2003.
The buildings, which total over 110,000 square feet (10,000 square meters) face the ocean, and we said ‘buildings’ – plural – because there’s more than one.
The main house alone is 66,000 square feet – or 6,100 square meters.
In total, the property features 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, about a dozen chimneys, a basketball court, a bowling alley, two tennis courts, two squash courts, a carousel, at least three swimming pools, and a hot tub.
New York isn’t exactly the cheapest place in the world to buy a house, but the property tax here is still shocking.
We’re looking at least $550,000 a year.
We had a look on Google Earth and the craziest thing is the pond it borders.
It’s officially called ‘Fairfield Pond,’ but it’s practically the size of a lake.
It is much, much larger than all the houses on the property combined – which means it is significantly larger than an entire average neighborhood.
Some pond that is.
