A ‘petrol-guzzling enthusiast’ has converted to electric cars to do ‘the right thing’ – and revealed which model won them over.
Many are still unsure as to whether they should convert to electric cars/EVs or not, given how expensive they can be, and fears over the range and charging networks.
But, more people are being converted to electric power, with YouTuber Dave from Dave Takes It On meeting someone who had recently done so.
In it, they explain why they went from a petrolhead to an EV convert, and why they won’t be going back.

Why this petrolhead is now a lover of electric cars
The petrolhead, Curtis, has chosen a Hyundai Ioniq 6 as his new electric car.
As his first EV, everything is brand new to him.
Curtis said his motivation behind the Ioniq 6 was to lower his carbon footprint and do the right thing.
Previously, he drove a gas-guzzling 5.0-liter Jaguar V8, which wasn’t the best for the environment.

He aims to keep the car as long as possible, and his first impression was just how much power the Hyundai had.
The 0-60mph time is just 5.8 seconds, which is a lot of performance.
One of the other aspects Curtis was bemused by was how the car ‘talks to him’.
That is due to all the little assists and sensors, something his Jaguar didn’t have.
Curtis won’t go back to a regular car
While it took some getting used to, Curtis said in the video that he is happy with his decision.
The Jaguar he is keeping, but out of affection, and it won’t be a daily driver anymore.
One aspect of EVs that can be hard to learn is things like regen breaking.
Other things include where to go to charge up the car.

But Curtis said that is all part of the transition.
He appeared to have embraced this with his Ioniq 6.
When asked at the end of the video if he had any regrets, he said there were none at all.
Using an EV had become his preferred way to drive, so it looks like electric cars have another new convert!
