This Hyundai got stuck in the Southwestern terrain and needed the ‘largest recovery ever’ to get out.
YouTuber Matt’s Off-Road Recovery took his one million subscribers along for the rescue mission.
The Hyundai was stuck in a remote spot on the Honeymoon Trail, which stretches out between Utah and Arizona.
It wasn’t an ideal situation to be in, to say the least.

Rescuing a Hyundai from a tricky situation in tough terrain
Matt and Caitlyn drove the ‘Wrecker’ up the trail, where they found the stranded car.
It’s clear to see how the Hyundai got stuck, as even the Wrecker had a hard time making it to the spot, thanks to the sloping roads.
Perry, the man who called for help was incidentally one of Matt’s one million subscribers, though he admitted it wasn’t ideal circumstances in which to meet.

He remarked: “I watched you guys for years, I never thought [we’d meet] this way.”
With a quarter-mile between Perry and smooth road, it was decided that they would tow him to the top of the slope to get him out.
It’s a really gnarly situation that he’s gotten himself into, with the truck essentially resting on a bed of rocks.
After positioning the Wrecker on a slope, they got ready to rescue the Hyundai.

There’s not a lot to work with in terms of things to connect the Hyundai and the Wrecker.
A skid plate was the best option available.
It’s a similar story at the back of the vehicle, where a wheel was the only choice on offer.
With Caitlyn sat in the Hyundai’s drivers seat and Matt controlling the Wrecker, they managed to slowly free it from its precarious position.
Mission accomplished
Now that it’d been put back onto its wheels, it was time to get Perry and his vehicle back onto a smooth road.
Matt instructed Caitlyn before she took on the driving: “This doesn’t have walkers and it doesn’t flex out well.

“The right amount of speed, but not so much speed that you launch over something and rip a bumper off.”
It’s easy to see how the truck got stuck to begin with, as there was a few close calls making it up the hill.
This terrain is not for the faint of heart.
Caitlyn held her nerve and got it back onto solid ground, much to Perry’s gratitude.
He gushed: “[Caitlyn] is amazing. Matt is amazing.”
Upon closer inspection, the team realized that Perry had gone off the road whilst trying to avoid a huge rock.
But at any rate, a tricky rescue mission had been pulled off.

It’s always an impressive display to see a car rescued from an awkward situation.
Inevitably, some of those awkward situations will happen in rocky terrains, as was the case with this $1.2 million camper.
But this isn’t always the case – hot springs mud in Utah has also proved itself to be a sticking point, so to speak.
And of course, the water is notoriously hazardous for vehicles, like this Ram 3500 which got flooded at a Texan beach.
