This iPhone feature will change the way you view your homescreen in Low Power Mode.

The mode saves many of us when out and about with a rapidly draining battery.

But it turns out that the Clock app is also affected when your battery tries to preserve energy.

All it takes is one tap to shift your view on time, and the detail will be sure to catch your eye.

There is a hidden detail when it comes to an iPhone switching to Low Power Mode

The little yellow battery sign on the top right of an iPhone screen tells you how long it’s got left, but it turns out that the mode can do more than make your Apple juice last longer.

Some savvy iPhone users have discovered that the Clock app also adjusts its performance when it comes to saving power.

If you unlock your iPhone and have the Clock app situated on your homescreen, you’ll notice that the clock hands move in a continuous motion.

However, if you then switch to Low Power Mode, you’ll notice that the clock hands’ rate of motion slows slightly.

Taking to Reddit, one user noted the difference.

“Usually, the second hand glides smoothly in the app icon.

“This was known to me. However, when the phone is in low power mode, it changes to a quartz-like tick.

“Amazing attention to detail,” said the user named styx-dei.

Other users also found it to be the case with the new operating system iOS 26, which was launched earlier this year.

“Mine did it the other day for the first time (that I’ve noticed). Rather inconvenient as I was trying to set the time on my mechanical watch against it,” commented one Apple fan.

“Wow, from a power optimization pov, it makes a lot of sense,” said another.

“This is an awesome find. Thanks for sharing,” added a third.

This is how Low Power Mode really works

When Low Power Mode was introduced, it saved the day for many tech fans, but it also left some people puzzled as to how it really worked.

So, Apple spilled the details, and it turns out that there’s a really simple explanation.

Low Power Mode actually helps your battery last longer by reducing the activity in the background of your iPhone, such as the weather updating, and now, the clock ticking.

It’s easy to turn on and off, too.

All you need to do is open your settings, tap the battery icon, click on the power mode setting, and then turn it on or off.

You can also adjust your own accessibility settings on your iPhone and add it to your control center, too, so it’s there when you swipe down from the top of your screen.

It’s also available on iPads – so if you want your time on the big screen to last longer, then you’re in luck.

So there you go.

You really do learn something new every day, especially in the tech world.
