Red light, green light, go?
For many drivers, the symbol of a red light means that a vehicle should stop, but one woman witnessed an action at a red light that made her quite literally stop in her tracks.
Lauren Gordon of WKFR 103.3 explained that during her commute, she stopped at an intersection, where she was sitting at a red light.

We know what you’re thinking, pretty standard, right?
Well, she went on to explain that a Subaru pulled up next to her in the left-turn lane, but then, although the light was still on red, the driver pulled out and performed a left turn.
After observing the fellow driver’s behavior, Lauren was left puzzled, but there was a reasonable explanation for the Subaru’s left turn.

Here’s what the law says about the legal left turn
Even though turning at a red light is frowned upon in most places, on Michigan roads, it is perfectly normal to see a legal left turn take place.
Michigan State Police revealed all the juicy details and tackled the small print.
Get ready to learn something new, as it turns out that in some instances, it is actually allowed.
Section 257.612 explained that cars facing a ‘steady red signal‘, that have stopped before going over a crosswalk at an intersection or near a limit line, or in the event there is no crosswalk or limit line, are allowed to make a left turn.
The rules state that it may be made from a one-way or two-way street that goes into a one-way street ‘carrying traffic in the direction of the left turn’, unless it is prohibited.
The same rules can also be applied to right-hand turns, too, according to the cops.
So there you go, sometimes a red light can also be a green one.
