This is the story of Liam Young and his 16-year-old Toyota Land Cruiser.

The car recently passed an incredibly impressive 410,000 miles on the odometer.

His love for the car is evident not only in driving it for 16 years but also in maintaining it in its original condition.

Liam Young and his 16-year-old Toyota Land Cruiser

The story of Liam Young has been covered by Toyota UK Magazine, and why not?

The company would surely be proud to have such a loyal customer.

The story takes us back to July 15, 1998, when Liam purchased this three-door Land Cruiser from Mid Ulster Cars in Cookstown, County Tyrone.

Interestingly, the car was meant to be delivered to someone else.

However – allegedly – due to a superstition surrounding its registration plate number, WIW 1303, the buyer refused it.

Ironically, Liam purchased the car, which was lucky because it turned out to be his most cherished possession

So many years have passed, and Land Cruiser is still keeping people happy with their SUVs.

The latest all-electric Land Cruiser concept is a perfect example of that.

Replacing the car with another Land Cruiser

To give you an idea what driving 410,000 miles in a car means, that would be equivalent to around 16 times driving around the earth.

Now, to achieve that feat and still keep the car in an excellent condition, that’s something really impressive.

Moreover, Liam’s duty as a vet requires him to tackle harsh weather and rough terrains at all times.

Despite that, his Land Cruiser never disappointed him.

“The car went up and down roads and tracks similar to those seen in Helmand province!

“It tackled all sorts of weather, including the arctic conditions of 2010,” he said.

“Then, when I became a family man, 1303 had the dual function of being both workhorse and family car,” he further added.

Liam didn’t forget to give a huge credit to the excellent customer service from the company.

“I always serviced 1303 regularly with Mid Ulster Cars and would like to commend the team there for years of sterling support and customer service,” he added.

He eventually retired the car, and replaced it with another Land Cruiser 2007 120-Series.

But his story and his love for the car is worth remembering.
