Lionel Messi has placed an order for a luxury Ultima 88 catamaran worth millions.
The soccer star is an icon, there’s no two ways about it.
He’s not shy when it comes to expensive purchases, and this latest one is proof of that.
And once you get a look at the Ultima 88 for yourself, you’ll agree that this was a purchase worth every penny.
Lionel Messi lives the high life, as you might expect from a soccer legend
You’d be hard-pressed to find an athlete alive today that gets quite as much fanfare as Lionel Messi.
And with all of that adulation has come a ton of wealth.
Suffice to say, that money has been well spent over the years, whether it’s on a $250,000 Mercedes-Maybach S680 or a $15 million private jet fit for soccer royalty.

In fact, he even spent more than $200,000 on golden iPhones for his teammates.
It doesn’t get more extravagant than that. Well…maybe it does.
He’s now put in an order for a catamaran that is the definition of luxury.
Taking a closer look at the Ultima 88
The Ultima 88 comes courtesy of Sunreef Yachts, a world-leading designer of luxury catamarans since 2002.
This newest creation will join Messi’s MIM Ocean fleet, based in the Balearic Islands.

On board, four guest cabins will give guests the privacy they need, while Messi will get to unwind in the luxurious master suite.
The Ocean Lounge will incorporate the surrounding waters into the fun, giving space for swimming, water sports, and lounging with enviable ocean views.
The boat will measure out at 28.39m with a beam of 9.31m.
It’ll be capable of fitting 10 guests and five crew members, and will be powered by a 75kW battery alongside two Volvo D13 engines capable of 1,000hp.

“Leo Messi embodies an extraordinary level of excellence, but what makes this new chapter particularly meaningful to us is what happens beyond the spotlight,” Francis Lapp, the founder of Sunreef Yachts, said.
“At Sunreef Yachts, we believe that true luxury is the freedom to choose how you spend your time, with the people who matter most. The sea gives us that freedom in its purest form. We are incredibly proud to welcome Leo Messi and his family to the House of Sunreef.”

Messi was similarly happy to be joining the ‘Sunreef family’.
“My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance,” he said.
“Sunreef Yachts have the style and features I really like, and they’re a perfect fit for what I’m looking for. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the ULTIMA 88 and enjoying it with my family.”

Lionel Messi isn’t the only famous figure to be linked to an impressive vessel
It’s not just soccer players like Messi who are setting sail.
We’ve seen plenty of figures living their best lives out on the high seas, from Jay-Z and Beyoncé to Brad Pitt.
So it’s clear that Messi is in good company on his future excursions out on the open waters.
It’s not yet clear when we’ll see this boat set sail, but we can only imagine how many of Messi’s friends and family are crossing their fingers for an invitation.
