A newly launched fully electric SUV from Lynk & Co. International has managed to obtain the highest ever safety score.

The Lynk & Co 02 was unveiled late last year, with its creators saying it offers ‘exceptional range and a unique sense of fun’.

The 02 has an impressive all-electric range of around 276 miles (445km) as well as ‘premium features’ including an advanced digital cockpit.

Now, the new EV has also earned itself the highest ever safety score for a compact SUV.

The Lynk & Co 02 was awarded the highest ever safety score in its class

The Lynk & Co 02 is the first battery electric vehicle from the Chinese automotive brand as it enters the European EV market for the first time.

When the car was unveiled back in October, Lynk & Co pointed out its ‘striking exterior’, ‘impressive range’, and ‘cutting-edge safety features’.

And now the claims have been well and truly backed up following testing by Euro NCAP.

Euro NCAP uses a series of tests to give new cars a safety score, and during its latest test cycle the Lynk & Co 02 was given a solid five out of five stars and was the safest vehicle in its class tested in 2025.

Not only that, but breaking down the scores further, it was given the highest ever recorded rating of 89 percent for Safety Assistance.

It also scored 90 percent for Adult Occupant Protection, 87 percent for Child Occupant Protection, and 83 percent for Vulnerable Road User Protection.

“Safety has always been a core pillar of our product strategy, and with the Lynk & Co 02, we’ve raised the bar for ourselves – and for the entire segment,” Vice President of Product & Strategy at Lynk & Co, David Green said

“Achieving the highest Euro NCAP rating ever recorded for a compact SUV is a signal of where we’re headed.

“As we continue to grow our portfolio, this recognition reinforces our commitment to building vehicles that are not only innovative and sustainable, but also among the safest on the road. It sets the tone for what customers can expect from Lynk & Co – now and in the future.”

Tesla also scored highly on the Euro NCAP tests

Elsewhere in the 2025 Euro NCAP tests, the Tesla Model 3 was named the safest new car, with the EV scoring high marks in driver assist systems and crash protection.

Euro NCAP awarded the Model 3 a total score of 359 out of 400, making it the highest-performing car tested this year.

The Mercedes E-Class also did well, earning 353 points, while other high-scoring cars included the Volkswagen ID.7, Zeekr X, Polestar 3, and NIO ET5.
