This man was excited to buy his first ever Jeep sight unseen, but it’d been parked for years and didn’t run or drive.
Youtuber Vice Grip Garage bought a ‘basket case’ 1988 Jeep Wrangler, admitting it was ‘not so beautiful’.
He also admitted he didn’t know a whole lot about Jeeps, and all he really knew about this one was that it didn’t run.
But could he get this Wrangler going again, despite it not having moved an inch in years?

A Jeep Wrangler bought sight unseen that hasn’t moved in years
There’s something about a car that hasn’t moved for years that intrigues us.
Whether it be a car parked in the same spot for 50 years or for 20 years, our minds just fill with questions.
We want to know how those cars got there, and where their owners are.

And more pertinently, do these cars still run after all that time?
In the case of this Jeep Wrangler acquired by Vice Grip Garage, it was safe to say it had a fair few issues.
Having spent some time in both Florida and North Carolina, the sweltering heat had clearly made an impact on the Jeep’s exterior.
“It’s been sun-baked terribly bad,” Vice Grip Garage commented.
There was also surface rust dotted around the doors and some ‘bubbling’.

But problems like these aren’t the real crux of the matter – it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
After all, if this thing has any hope of being out on the road again, it’ll be the interior that will need to be in running order.
Can this car run again?
There was quite a lot to be done when it came to fixing the Jeep – battery replacement, fixing up the corroded wiring, and oil replacement, to name just a few jobs.
It was a long and laborious process, but the engine started making noise eventually.

That can only be promising…right?
But, how would things fare outside of the garage?
“So far, it’s really bumpy. But that might be a Jeep thing.
“It’s actually pretty responsive, I’m really surprised.
“Everything works except the clock. Third gear as we’re trying to go over this hill not looking very hot,” Vice Grip Garage concluded.
So there were still some teething issues that needed to be worked out.

By the video’s end, he admitted it had its ‘quirks’, but the Jeep was starting to grow on him.
He’s intending to take it along with him on RV trips, to save money on rentals.
