This man decided to buy a cheap Maserati to drive 2,7000 miles home to New Hampshire, even though the car was riddled with red flags

The risk taker bought the car at auction for just $9,000 – which can’t be a good sign.

After picking his purchase up, his aim was to drive it from Phoenix to New Hampshire.

But was the bargain too good to be true?

There’s no doubt that a Maserati is one powerhouse of a car. In fact, the Maserati MC20 just became the fastest autonomous car in the world – interesting right?

And, thanks to HBO’s The Penguin, the purple Maserati’s popularity has risen, too.

But can a cheap snap up still perform as well as an expensive one?

Well, this Maserati was actually one of the cheapest in the whole of the US, and this wild content creator – Waldo’s World, purchased it to take on a lengthy road trip.

Sounds fun right? Not when you hear about the red flags the car has blazed throughout.

Despite only costing its new owner a mere $9,000, the car had quite a few red flags

Firstly, it had a whopping five owners before Waldo snapped it up – are alarm bells ringing yet?

And if that wasn’t enough to raise your eyebrows, how about the engine codes being reset?

Let’s face it – it wasn’t looking good… or so he thought.

Despite the fact it had a few issues and fitted the profile of a ‘drug smuggler’s ride’, Waldo got on with his journey home. But not before giving it a quick once-over in a local garage, plus an oil change.

He even said that the ‘service went really well’ apart from a few minor things like the suspension warning light – so much for blazing red flags, eh?

To be on the safe side, he took the less direct Southern route so he had access to parts

And, to Waldo’s surprise, his trip went smoothly. The most nerve-wracking aspect? Crossing a checkpoint.

“I’m aware this car sort of fits the profile of a drug smuggler,” he joked, and was even expecting to be pulled over.

On the last little bits of the journey, though, the Maserati’s transmission was playing up, leaving him stuck in a low gear, causing a hiccup to happen a couple of times.

But after the codes reset once the car was started again, it was all systems go, and he made it home in one piece.

Waldo did have some plans to fix it up to his own standards, but the main thing?

He got home and managed to avoid all the red flags baring their ugly heads.

Impressive, right?

What makes the Maserati such a desirable car?

Well, Waldo bagged a 2009 Maserati Quattroporte S which has been described by petrolheads as ‘linear and effortless’.

Its cockpit is said to feel intimate, like a sports car. It’s also famed for its Ferrari-like design.

To us, it sounds like the real deal, so now we get why he went on such a huge journey to get it.

Watch Waldo’s 2,700 mile journey below and find out what modifications he made after he got there.
