A man inherited an all-original 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 from his late uncle, but isn’t a fan of classic cars, so has decided to sell it.

Ford launched the Galaxie in 1959 as a marketing tie-in with the Space Race.

The Fairline 500 was the top trim available for the Ford Galaxie and offered some upgrades on the stock model.

In 1965, Ford released a refreshed model of the Galaxie, and one of them has recently been placed up for sale in Iowa.

The 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 is an all-original survivor

The Ford Glaxie had a lengthy production run, kicking off in 1959 and drawing to a close in 1974.

During that time, millions of examples were produced across several variants and trims, including the Galaxie 500 and Galaxie 500XL, which means that you can still come across them – in various states – today.

Like this 1963 Galaxie, which was unearthed after 40 years in a barn, or this 1968 Ford Galaxie XL that spent so long outside, it had basically become part of the natural landscape

Over in Iowa, a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 survivor has recently gone up for sale on eBay.

The second owner of the vehicle sadly passed away and left the vintage vehicle to his nephew.

However, the nephew isn’t into classic cars, so he has decided to put it on the market.

According to the listing, the Galaxie 500 has its original body and its brakes still work, but are in need of attention.

The car’s original 289-cubic-inch V8 engine ‘starts right up’ and it currently ‘runs and drives well’, according to the seller.

But the car is running off a gas tank in the truck, as the original one needs to be replaced.

Inside, it’s held onto its original seats, but the upholstery is tearing in places, and the interiors could do with some TLC.

The car could make an excellent restoration project, for the right person, with the seller noting it is ‘a car you can drive and have fun with while you take it to whatever level you want to’.

Ever wondered what happens if you run a Galaxie on jet fuel?

While the 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 is prime for a restoration to return it to its former glory, YouTuber and car enthusiast Cleetus McFarland once gave his a more unusual restoration.

He decided to convert the classic car from a gas to a diesel engine and then filled it wth jet fuel to see how it ran

Somewhat incredibly, not only did the car run, but it also made more power.
