This man traded in his 1969 Chevrolet Corvette for a 2006 Lotus Elise, and after the swap, it seems others think he made the right call.

Both cars are complete powerhouses, but considering the history behind the Corvette, the swap to a Lotus Elise could be seen as unusual.

After swapping to the Lotus, he received an influx of feedback on his new wheels.

And while some called the trade ‘unexpected’, others praised him for his taste and offered some words of wisdom.

This man ditched his 1969 classic for a 2006 Lotus Elise

After trading in his 1969 Corvette, this driver took to Reddit to share his excitement.

While some were excited for him, some were a bit surprised by his decision.

“Traded away my 1969 Corvette for this 2006 Elise yesterday,” Reddit user Cheehos said.

The Corvette was swapped in for a Lotus Elise, a sports car released in 1995, and it was deemed powerful from the very start.

At launch, power for the Elise came from a 1.8-litre, 118bhp engine coupled to a 5-speed gearbox.

It was mounted behind the driver, and thanks to the car’s light weight, the first models were able to reach 100kph in just 5.9 seconds.

After announcing his swap to the Lotus Elise, people were quick to offer their support.

“Probably a good trade I would entertain!” said one user.

“Probably the most unexpected trades of all time, but honestly send it,” said another.

“Great choice. Drive it well. Find the limits. Feel the rotation. Engage with the steering’s texture. Listen to the 2ZZ sing as it climbs past 6k. Enjoy the lightness,” added a third.

Why the Corvette is the ultimate classic

Despite being traded in by this particular driver, the Corvette remains a classic.

First released in the 1950s, the car has been a staple in households thanks to its sheer power and speed.

The car has even earned the title of the longest-produced sports car in the world, which is no mean feat.

In fact, basketball star Shaquille O’Neal is the proud owner of the biggest ever Chevy Corvette, and it’s one of the stealthiest custom builds in history.

Meanwhile, one wrecked 1960 Corvette that was found on Facebook Marketplace turned out to be the cheapest C1 Corvette deal in the world for one lucky gearhead who wanted a piece of car history.
